Anna W. Marshall, age 86, of Portage "The Flag Lady", passed away on Sunday March 17, 2002. Anna was a lifetime Portage resident and a lifetime member of the Portage Community Bible Church. anna was a 1933 graduate of Crisman High School, Portage, IN. Anna was the 1934 winner of the Gary Walkathon having walked continuously for three months. She was an avid gardener and had worked at U.S. Steel from 1941 thru 1956. Anna is preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Marshall, daughter, Joanne Bednash-Harper and parents, two brothers and two sisters. Anna is survived by four children: Eva Kjennerud, Joyus Windsor and Theresa (Kenneth) Skeen, all of Portage and George J. (Vida) Marshall of California; nine grandsons, four granddaughters, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great- grandchildren; three sisters: Christina Cipko and Elsie (Robert) Barrett, both of California and Alice (Odell) Felty of Crown Point; one brother, Simon (Jennie) Walters of Arkansas and many nieces, nephews and good friends; also, Jackie and The Harbor Light Hospice Care. Private graveside services will be held. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. at the Portage Community Bible Church, 2748 Willowdale Road, Portage, IN, with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating.
