Maggie Mae Burgett was born February 5, 1901 in Washington Township, Adams County, Iowa to Lewis W. Burgett and Julia M. Bailiff. She married Edward Brian Hardisty on July 20, 1919 in Corning, Adams County, Iowa. She died November 15, 1939 in Prescott, Adams County, Iowa and is buried in the Oakland Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Russell of Afton and Glenn Hardisty of Prescott, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Clark (Wilma) Peterson of Corning, Ia., Mr. Wayne (Wanda) Victor of Prescott, Ia., and Mr. Dean (Donna) Adams of Omaha, Neb.; 24 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Harrison (Rosie) Means of Corning and Mr. Ruby Powell of Creston, Ia.;
The community was shocked and saddened Wednesday evening when word flashed around of the sudden passing of Mrs. Edd Hardisty, who took suddenly sick and all that medical help and willing neighbors could do was of no avail. The funeral was Saturday afternoon at Mercer Church, which was the largest held there, bespoke the friends she made in this community during the few years of residence here and all join in extending sympathy to the family and relatives.
