Alton Ray Jennings, 62, of Anson passed away at his home on January 23rd, 2009. Military Honors will be presented at Hawley Cemetery on Monday January 26th at 2:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Piersall Benton Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.

Ray was born to William Floyd Jennings and Annie Mae Ausborn Jennings on May 28th, 1946 in Hawley, TX. He married Wanda Lajean Langford in Anson, Texas on May 16th, 1969 and they enjoyed nearly 40 years together.

Ray loved anything outdoors. He and his family enjoyed numerous camping trips together as well as trips to the ocean. Ray was a construction supervisor for the city of Abilene for 37 years. He was also a proud Veteran having served in the Navy and Naval reserves.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife, his daughter Nancy Sanders and husband Matthew of Haskell, TX, three grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Reese, and Jonathan Primm all of Haskell, a brother, Eugene Jennings of Dublin, TX, and a sister, Doris Richardson of Clyde, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers: Bufford, Melvin, Joe, Mack, and Lee, and two sisters: Lula and Thelma New.
