(For years Rebecca was the "pillar" of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Athens. In 1919 she paid a large part of the money necessary for extensive repairs to the structure and in 1924 when she was 95 years of age she borrowed money so that the church could be painted and new carpet installed.)
