Augusta Wilheimena Tillman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Almquist was born October 10, 1874, in Page County, Iowa, near Essex, and passed away on Sunday, June 19, 1949. Her entire life was spent in and near Essex, Iowa.
On March 23, 1898, she was united in marriage with Emil Tillman. To them were born four children, two sons, preceding her in death, Raymond passed away at eight years of age, and Elof died in infancy. Two surviving children are Wendla, Mrs. Glen Falk, and Darwin, both of Essex, Iowa. She is also survived by four grandchildren, three brothers, Charles Almquist, Red Oak, Iowa, Joe Almquist, Essex, Iowa, and Albert Almquist, Peru, Iowa, and three sisters, Anna Peterson, Shenandoah, Iowa, Mrs. Roy Lindberg, Shenandoah, Iowa and Mrs. Clarence Brown of Essex, Iowa.
Three brothers, Oscar, Ed, and David Almquist and one sister, Mrs. Frank Brown, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Tillman was confirmed in Fremont Mission Church and later changed her membership to the Fremont Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Fremont Lutheran Church, with Rev. Frank J. Carlson in charge. services were at the home in Essex at 2:00 P.M., and the church at 2:30 P.M.
Caring for flowers were Dr. and Mrs. G. A. McMaster and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Samuelson.
Casket bearers were Frank Lathram, Lester Nelson, Gilbert Freed, Eddie Johnson, Harry Linquist, and Elmer Bloomberg. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Nyman, Iowa.
