WALKER - John Edward Zieser, 85, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Urbana and Walker communities, died Saturday at Vinton.
Born Jan. 25, 1889, at Urbana, he was married to Susan Kleitsch Oct. 2, 1912. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic church.
Surviving, besides the wife, are a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Leaven of Independence; two sons, Harold of Independence and Vernon of Walker; two sisters, Mrs. Lee Smith of Walker and Dora Smith of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Herman of Urbana; 12 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Services: Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Walker. Burial: St. Mary's cemetery, Spencer's Grove. Visitation Sunday at Murdoch's in Walker, where Rosary will be recited at 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday.
