Joy Ankenbauer, 84, Kenmare, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, in a Kenmare hospital.
Joy Marion Jensen was born June 17, 1926, a daughter of Nels C. "Christ" and Alice A. (Hendrickson) Jensen, on the family farm located in Crawfoot Township of Mountrail County, west of Coulee. She was raised on the family farm and educated at a country school in the area.
Joy married Berlin "Bill" Ankenbauer on April 7, 1948, in Kenmare. They made their home on a farm located in Spencer and Elmdale townships of Ward County, west of Kenmare. Bill passed away June 26, 2002.
In October 2002, she moved into Kenmare and in 2005, moved into the Kenmare Baptist Home. In February 2009, she moved into the Kenmare Skilled Nursing Unit.
She was a member of United Methodist Church and its ladies aid group, as well as the Village Neighbors Homemakers Club, all of Kenmare.
Her loving family includes: daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Jon Westlake, Kenmare; son and daughter-in-law, Kim and Brenda Ankenbauer, Washburn; grandchildren, Kristen (Dr. J'Patrick) Fahn, Bismarck, Danielle (Kirk) Hotvedt, East Grand Forks, Minn., Torie (Damien) Reinhart, Bismarck, Tera Ankenbauer, Bismarck, and Candace Ankenbauer, Washburn; great-grandchildren, Eden Reinhart and J'Ayda Fahn; sister, Delores (Robert) Vivian, Butte, Mont.; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Nels "Christ" and Alice Jensen; husband, Bill; daughter, Jolene Ankenbauer; brother, Chester (Dorothy) Grenvik; sisters, Elsie (Robert) Gregory, Alvina (Leonard) Parkinson and Selma (Leonard) Tenderholt.
Funeral: Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at 1 p.m., in Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.
Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.
Visitation: Saturday, one hour prior to the service, in the church.
