Lloyd L. Benson, a retired painter for Columbia Machine, died Sunday, July 11, 2004, in Vancouver. He was 89. His wife, Katie, died in 2001. A daughter, Donna Pennington, also preceded him in death. Mr. Benson was born Dec. 2, 1914, in Hurley, S.D., and had lived in Vancouver since 1954.
Survivors include two sons, Walt Polley of Toppenish, Washington, and Dennis Benson of Vancouver; one sister, Loraine Freimuth of Vancouver; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Benson was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges and liked hunting and fishing.
A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
