Had Been Living at Home of L. V. Baschke
John Donner, 86 year old Estherville resident, died at 6 a.m. today at the home of his nephew , L. V. Baschke. Mr. Donner had been in poor health for the last year.
Born June 22, 1856, in Brettenstein, Germany, Mr. Donner emigrated to the United States when he was 25 years old. He went first to Ackley, Iowa, where he lived for ten years. From there he went to Milford where he farmed. In 1915 Mr. Donner came to Estherville to make his home with his nephew, L. V. Baschke, who works for the Rock Island railroad.
Besides Mr. Baschke, he is survived by two nieces, Mrs. H.C. Marr, of Estherville and Mrs. French Yager of Spencer. Two other nephews, Michael and Henry Baschke, live in Milford.
Mass will be celebrated for Mr. Donner at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's church. Burial will be at Calvary cemetery at Milford. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, Jan. 14, 1943)
