Barbara E. Maulding, 78, a life-long Paxton resident, passed away Wednesday 1-1-2003 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Mrs. Maulding was born 5-9-1924 in rural Paxton, the daughter of S.T. and Laura E. Pennington Adkins. She married Chalon D. Maulding 8-25-1944 in Austin, Texas. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Sheila (Don) Quinter, Flower Mound, Texas, Sandra (Dana) Sauer, Paxton, and Sharon Maulding Hale, Rantoul; five grandsons, three great-granddaughters, two brothers, Elijah (Babe) Adkins, Catlin, and John Adkins, Costa Rica; and two sisters, Josephine Skonberg, Paxton and Rebecca Mabry, Gibson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister. Mrs. Maulding graduated from Paxton High School in 1942, and had taken several business classes. She was employed for a number of years and retired from Dix Mutual, Paxton. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ, a member of the woman's council of the church and the Moffett Club. She loved to travel, fly with her husband and enjoyed gardening and canning.
