Daughter of Isaac Bowyer (1783-1870) and Rebecca White (1795-1879) Bowyer, possibly buried in Shawtown Cemetery, but no proof.

Loretta was one of nine children born to the couple. Isaac was served in the War of 1812, and was given a land grant of 500 acres in Morrow Co., Ohio. The family left Virginia and moved to Ohio in 1820-1821.
