Darvel (Dar) Elrick Miller 1935 ~ 2010 Darvel (Dar) Elrick Miller, 75, of Kearns, passed away peacefully on Nov. 30, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones at Crosslands Rehab Center, Sandy, Utah. Dar was born in Stockton, Utah, on July 31, 1935 to Darvel L. Miller and Dorothy L. Smith. He attended Tooele High School. He worked for Intermountain Protein until 1991 then took a part-time job for Altrus until his health got the better of him. He first married in May, 1953. Four children were born from this union: Ricky E, Delbert J (deceased) ,Emma J (Virgil) Taylor, Roberta J (Darrell) Godfrey. A second marriage produced son Jamie. In 1972, he married Katherine (Ann) Schreiner and from this union Dar became a father to Kelley Jo (Mike) Frandsen and Raymond J, Lt.Col USMC, (Ruth) Schreiner. Together they had daughter, Debbra A. Miller. Preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Delbert Pfoutz, brother Delvy Miller, sister Dorothy Robson, son Delbert J, two infant children, and a great-granddaughter, Allison Rose Miller. He is survived by his wife, seven children, 17 grand-children, 15 great-grand-children, nephew, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and siblings, Georgeanna (William) Lewis, Joseph Pfoutz, Judy (Frank) Westerfield, and Kathy Sanders. Darvel had a sense of humor which earned him the nick name "Grouch". He will be missed and was loved by all who knew him. In keeping with his wishes his body has been donated to science. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you donate in his memory to "Toys for Tots". A "Celebration of His Life" will be held on Friday, December 10 from 5-9:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake Christian Center, 4300 S. 700 E.
