"Died.—At his home southwest of Odessa, Thursday, Oct 13, 1903, of cerebro meningitis, Christian Fechner, age 32 years. About three weeks ago the deceased was caught out in a heavy rain and contracted a severe cold which in a short time developed into a case of pneumonia. His condition was not thought to be serious and no physician was called for about ten days. By that time the disease had terminated into cerebro meningitis and was past all medical aid. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn his loss." (Odessa Record-Oct 16, 1903)
