"Christian Doering, a well to do rancher living 12 miles southwest of Odessa, died Wednesday of Catarrh of the stomach, after a long illness. He had been a sufferer from the disease for the past three years and for the past four months has been confined to his bed most of the time. Deceased was a native of Russia and at the time of his death was 51 years, 8 months and 4 days old. He emigrated to this country 32 years ago, settling in Hutchison Co, SD, moving to Washington about 8 years ago. He is survived by a wife, four sons, Ludwig, CC, John and Solomon, and four daughters, Mary, Aptolima, Salome and Alma. The funeral was held from the family home, Rev Hoffman, pastor of the First Evangelical church of Spokane, officiating. Interment was made in the Hoffensberg Cemetery." (Odessa Record-Sept 24, 1909)
