Latha Jane Jones was born August 17, 1875 just west of Patmos, Hempstead County, Arkansas.
She was the daughter of Wiley J. Jones and Tabitha Ellen Powell and was the youngest of nine children. She was named for her grandmother, Latha Jane Bryant Powell.

Her first husband was Henry J. Jones, son of David Henderson Jones and Harriett Virginia Williams. Henry was born November 27, 1871 near Patmos and died August 29, 1903. He is buried in nearby Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Hempstead County, Arkansas. Henry and Latha had three children: David, Tennie and Alta Jones.

Latha's second husband was Joseph B. Hampton whom she married April 20, 1905. Uncle Joe Hampton was born February 11, 1858 in Georgia. He was the son of Robert and Emily Hampton. Latha and Joseph Hampton had three sons: Pamie Lester, Lawrence Gradie and Clyde Howard "Pete" Hampton. Joseph Hampton died June 15, 1931 and is buried in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbia County, Arkansas.

"Aunt Lathie" was a very kind and soft spoken lady and well thought of by everyone. She passed away June 4, 1947 and is buried beside her first husband in Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Hempstead County, Arkansas. Both their parents are buried close by in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
