England in 1812. A man of
70 years of age he was appoint-
ed Major and commanded what
became known as MacRae's
battalion. He was the grandson
of Rev. Alexander MacRae,
minister of Kintail, two of
whose sons fell fighting
for the Pretender at Culloden.
