The ship "Clarissa B. Carver," built in Searsport, Maine in 1876, was named for Clarissa and captained by Jonathan Dow, her first cousin once removed, until his death in 1879. Besides this photo in the San Francisco History Center, a drawing of this ship appears in "The Seafaring Days of Our New England Family" written by Jonathan's son, Scott J. Dow, in May, 1948 and is in the collection of the Hinsdale (Illinois) Historical Society.
