James L. Blodget, the hermit banker of Hermitage, this county, was burned to death this morning in his house which was burned to the ground. He was estimated to be worth a million dollars. He was a graduate of Yale college in the class of 1850, but never married, having been disappointed in early life. He owned a great many farm mortgages in Western New York, several in Perry, and is the owner of the Saxton property at Silver Lake.
Mr. Blodgett has been robbed twice within two years. It is believed the fire caught from an overturned stove.
