East Jordan Resident Dies EAST JORDAN-Funeral services for Solon Barnes, sr., 77, who died Friday at Little Traverse Hospital where he has been a patient for the past week, will be from the Watson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, Interment will be Morehouse Cemetery, Echo Township, Antrim county. Mr. Barnes had been in ill health for the past year. He was born in Echo Township on the family homestead September 11, 1892. He moved with his family to British Columbia when 15 years of age and lived there and worked as a lumberman there and later in Wisconsin and Michigan. He returned to this area ad married Stella Walton on March 31, 1932 at Charlevoix. They made their home in East Jordan and then moved to the upper peninsula where he continued work as a lumberman. Then they moved to Flint where they lived until returning to East Jordan in 1965. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Solan Barnes, jr., in East Jordan; a daughter, Mrs. Raynor (Barbara) Olstrom, of East Jordan; two step-daughters, Mrs. Robert (Violet) Ross, of Mattawan, Mich, and Mrs. Edward (Velma) McWatters, of East Jordan; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Shepard, of Haney, British Columbia and Mrs. Gertrude Buckle, of Vancouver, British Columbia.
