Barbara Ann Olstrom, 82, of East Jordan died Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Charlevoix Area Hospital.

She was born on April 1, 1933, in East Jordan, the daughter of Solon and Stella (Walton) Barnes. Barbara graduated from East Jordan High School and then attended North Central Michigan College in Petoskey.

On January 27, 1956, in Petoskey, she married Raynor Carl Olstrom. They made their home in East Jordan where she was a caregiver and homemaker. She also had worked at McDonalds in Charlevoix for twelve years.

She was a former member of the Peninsula Grange. Barbara enjoyed spending time in church and with her friends. She was a poet who loved her “Lord”.

Barbara is survived by two sons, Carl (Cindie) Olstrom of East Jordan and Nelson (Dorothy Sisson) Olstrom of Boyne City; one daughter, Karen (Leonard) Kirby of East Jordan; eight grandchildren, William G. (Shani) Britton, Benjaman (Emily) Britton, Matthew (Betsy) Britton, Caleb Olstrom, Jennifer Sisson, Veronica Sisson, Brian (Hyunjin) Kirby, and Tina (Collin) Bronsink; seven great grandchildren, Oliver Britton, Chloe Britton, Charlotte Britton, Ophelia Britton, Andy Kirby, Luke Kirby and Isaac Bronsink; one sister-in-law, Linda Barnes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; four sisters, Beatrice Barnes, Violet Ross, Velma McWaters and Vera Ingalls; and one brother, Solon “Bud” Barnes, Jr.

The funeral will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan. Rev. David Behling will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M and 10:00 A.M. until service time at the Penzien Funeral Homes, Inc. in East Jordan.
