Martin was born in Indiana in 1842 to Drusilla D. Hartley. In 1844 his mother married Joshua Parker and he 'adopted' Martin and gave him his Parker name.
Martin married: Mary Agnes Leonora (Nora) Robins on 24 Oct 1864 in Scipio, Utah. His children that reached adulthood were:
Martin Lyman Parker 1865/1962 (born Scipio, Utah);
Leonora Drucilla Parker 1868/1957 (born Scipio, Utah);
Thomas Martin Parker 1873/1962 (born Scipio, Utah) ~~

The death of Martin Robert Parker was due to a terrible accident that occurred on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) as reported in the following newspaper account. ( see coroner's inquest) . They saw Martin Parker take fire and go to 'touch-off' the cannon. He tried 3 times before it went off. When the smoke cleared away they saw Parker lying on the ground, in a pool of blood. It was 4:45 o'clock p.m. when the fatal accident occurred. Bro. Parker was a powerful man and very venturesome. He was about 30 years of age, and left a pregnant wife and two children. "
