My Grandmother~aka Mamaw
Verona had a happy childhood, her father was a school teacher, her mother took care of the family. At the age of 17 she married George W. Miles Sr. on Feb. 15, 1924 in Madisonville, Madison County, Texas, they raised four children, and were happily married for 52 years.
She was a housewife that loved her family. Verona was a wonderful cook, and made the best dill pickles and fig preserves in the world, Sunday lunch at her house was always a family favorite.
Our Mamaw was a kind and loving woman. I remember her growing zinnias in her flower bed. One of her all time favorite things was listening to the gospel quartets, we took her to see them many times, she loved going, the Blackwood Brothers were a favorite.
She is so loved and missed~
