Hominy - Jewell Blue, 90, homemaker, died Saturday. Graveside service 2 p.m. Tuesday, A.J. Powell Memorial Cemetery. Chapman-Black, Cleveland, Okla. (1-20-02, A16)Jewell Amanda Blue was born May 8, 1911 in Chelsea, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Thomas and Frances Brannon. Jewell was raised and attended school in Hominy as her father was a horse trader and worked in the oilfields of Osage County.
Jewell dedicated her life to taking care of her four children. Additionally, she worked in a tent factory in Pawhuska. She was married to John Lee Blue on December 21, 1955 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Hominy and resided there unitl John passed away on August 1, 1979.
Although she enjoyed fishing and quiliting, Jewell loved to read. She especially enjoyed reading historial novels and watcing movies. However, her life centered on spending time with her family and taking care of all their needs. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Jewell passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at the Cleveland Area Hospital at the age of ninety years, eight months and eleven days. In addition to her husband, Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and a granddaughter, Sherry Stebbing.
She is survived by four children.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at the A. J. Powell Memorial Cemtery in Hominy, Oklahoma. Buiral will be at the Powell Cemetery under the direction of the Chapman-Black Funeral Home in Cleveland.
