G. Schneeberger Dies In Columbus After Long Illness

George Schneeberger, 90, died early this morning in the St. Anthony hospital in Columbus, death claiming him after a long period of failing health from general debility.
A resident of Sidney and Shelby county, throughout his long and active life, he was a well known and esteemed resident of the community.
His health had been failing for the past three years and since September he had been a patient in the hospital in Columbus.
George Schneeberger was born near Hardin on March 15, 1857, and earlier this month he had marked his 90th birthday. His early
years were spent in Hardin be-fore he located in Montra and in 1891 came to Sidney to reside and always continued his here.
Mourning his passing are four daughters and two sons, who are: Eugene Schneeberger, Delaware; O. Leo Schneeberger, Columbus; Mrs. Arthur (Esther) Granlund, Dayton; Mrs. Frederick A. (Bess) McLean; Mrs. Harry E. (Eda) Kratt; Mrs. Edward P. (Amelia) Gretzinger, all of Sidney. A daughter, Miss Martha Schneeberger, preceded him in death.
The grandchildren are: George Kratt, Miss Barbara Kratt, Mrs. William Rhees, Miss Ann McLean, Sidney; Robert Granlund Dayton; Mrs. Elmer Newman,
Cleveland. The great-grandchildren are: Mac and Jane Rhees, Sidney, and Dave Newman, Cleveland.
His marriage with Miss Mary Heintz, daughter of George and Martha Heintz of Montra, was solemnized in Montra on the sec-ond of May, 1882, and they were privileged to spend 58 companionable years together before she passed away 7 years ago in October.
He is the last of his family, his two brothers and half brother having preceded him in death, Louis Schneeberger, Galion; William Schneeberger and Cyrus Schneeberger, of Sidney. He was a son of Louis and Magdeline Schneeberger.
Throughout his, life he followed the vocation of a mechanic, and for many years was with the former Prima Manufacturing Company, and later was with the Slusser-McLean Scraper Company. He possessed splendid health, and did not retire until 10 years ago.
He was a member of the Lu-theran faith, joining with that church in confirmation when he 12 years of age. He brought his membership to St. John's Lutheran church, on moving to Sidney, and until infirmities of age interfered was one of the most active members. He served for many years as a member of the church council and was an elder. He took part in all phases of the work of the church and Sunday school, in the later serving as a former Sunday school superintendent
Funeral rites are to be held Thursday afternoon at .2 o'clock from-the Kerr Mortuary and will be officiated over by Rev. H. W. Swinehart of St. John's Lutheran church. Interment will be made in Graceland cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon.
