Mrs. Allie Portenier Funeral

The funeral service for Mrs. Allie Portenier was held at the Guide Rock Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon, April 22, with burial in Guide Rock cemetery.

Rev. W. C. Hansen of Red Cloud and Rev. C. D. Mitchell of Guide Rock conducted the funeral service. With Mrs. Joe Hunter at the organ, Mrs. E. C. Moranville, Mrs. Marvin Booker, Mrs. D. C. Lamb sang for the service.

Casketbearers were grandsons: Darrell Portenier, Gail and Gary Portenier, Leslie and Howard Bosley, John Richardson and Donald Williams.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Albie Sidlo Portenier, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Mary?) Sidlo was born March 5, 1887 north of Red Cloud in Webster County Nebraska and departed this life April 19, 1959 in Guide Rock at the age of 72 years, one month and 14 days.

She was united in marriage to Jacob Portenier on May 30, 1904 at Red Cloud. To this union four sons and one daughter were born.

They lived on farms north of Guide Rock until the death of her husband in 1939, after which time Mrs. Portenier moved into Guide Rock where she spent the rest of her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Earl of Branford, Fla.; Ralph and Keith of Guide Rock, and Mrs. Helen Bosley of Hemingford, Nebr.; three sisters: Mrs. Bertha Holsworth of Canada; Mrs. Elizabeth Zitek of Blue Hill; Mrs. Mary Dusek of Bladen; one brother: Ed Sidlo of Red Cloud; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors.
