TEMPE, Ariz. - Long-time Rapid City resident Maxine M Ellis, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 1996 in Tempe, Ariz., with her daughter Mary at her side.
Maxine was born in Fruitdale, S D. on Dec. 7, 1913, and she married Norman Ellis on May 24, 1939, in Lead, S.D. Maxine and Norman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1989.
Maxine raised five children, Susan Jack, San Diego, Calif., Rick Ellis, Dayton, Ohio, Mary Holt, Phoenix, Ariz., Seth Ellis, San Diego, and Jill Kobrin, San Diego. Maxine also has six grandchildren, Seth Porsching, Jenny Jack, Jason and Amy Ellis, and Theresa and Austin Holt. Surviving siblings are Phyllis Zoll. Seattle, Wash., Leonore Bonacci, Helper, Utah, Harold Mattson, Cupertino, Calif., and Anna Louise Wright, Eugene, Ore.
Maxine had volunteered at the Corner Stone Rescue Mission preparing meals. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Corner Stone Rescue Mission at P.O. Box 2188, Rapid City, SD 57709.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rapid City. A luncheon will be served at the church following the service.
Maxine will be buried at Black Hills National Cemetery next to her husband, after the service and lunch. You may reach the family through Mary Holt at 2349 E. Riviera Drive, Tempe, Ariz.
