Current interests are trying to sort relationships of MAIN's in NY with those in Dodge County, WI in the mid 1800's. Strong interest in MAIN's from Rensselear County and Madison County both NY. I have come across many large 19th Century concentrations of Mains in New London County, CT; Rensselear County, NY; Madison County, NY; Delaware County, OH; Dane County, WI; Allegany County, NY; Cayuga County, NY; Frederick County, MD; Erie and Crawford Counties, PA; and Santa Clara County, CA. All interrelated. I have noticed there are several families always close by in these pockets and intermarried with Main's, notably Brown, Wheeler, Coon, Burdick, Stillman, Paine, Babcock, .... It also appears that whole Main families moved to the next new counties west with dozens and even hundreds of fellow 7th Day Baptists. Very often a Main was an Elder or Deacon.
