Mrs. Iris Seese Stone, 80, died Sunday, November 21, 2010.
A graveside funeral service will be at noon on Saturday November 27, 2010, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.

Mrs. Stone was born in Harrison County, WV, a daughter of the late Ora Day Seese and the late Gaye Cottril Seese. Mrs. Stone had been a resident of Columbia for the past 38 years. She retired after 20 years as an LPN from Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia. She was recognized for her exemplary nursing skills as a multiple honoree of LPN of the Year Award and Nursing Excellence designations.

She was predeceased in death by two daughters, Katherine Lewis and Linda Lewis Crenshaw.

Mrs. Stone is survived by three daughters, Debra Gaye LaLima of Batesburg, Amy Evelyn Kelly of Martinez, GA, and Melissa Jane Dupuy of West Columbia. She also leaves her sisters, Guilda Ash, Mary Lou Bates and Joanne Gaston of West Virginia, as well as two brothers, Conard Seese and Ora Day Seese Jr., also of West Virginia, ten grandchildren: Joseph, William and Katherine LaLima, Elizabeth Crenshaw, Morgan, Sawyer, Sean, Ryan and Katie Kelly, Lindsey Dupuy, two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Eliza LaLima.

Her life was spent nurturing her children, her family, her patients and her gardens. She shared her strength, integrity, love and intelligence with us and was always ready to help those in need.

"Mrs. Iris" will be missed by all who knew her. She is gone from our touch, but not from our hearts and lives.

The family has requested that memorials may be made to: The Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or The Harvest Hope Food Bank, 7201 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
