R. E. Baker Died Last Week at Rosebud

R. E Baker, well known to Normangee people as Ed Baker died last Wednesday at the home of a friend near Rosebud. He was buried in Hopewell Cemetery Thursday afternoon, the services conducted by Rev. R. V. Holloman assisted by Rev. C. E. Bullock. Mr. Baker was a long time resident of Normangee, son of Rev. F. S. Baker, an early minister of this place. He was born October 27, 1873, being just a little more than 67 years of age.
He lived in and around Normangee most of his life, but was staying recently at the home of a friend in Rosebud. He had been complaining that morning of not feeling so well, but thought nothing serious. He then asked for help to get into the house, and then wanted to lie down. Soon after being helped to the bed he breathed his last.
He leaves one brother John Baker of Limestone County, and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Gilbert, Mrs. Lula Harrison, and Mrs Emma Black. He was never married. He leaves a number of other relatives here. Obit from Normangee Star Vol XXXIX # 1 December 5, 1940
