Roy Byrd
July 20, 1942:

Roy Byrd, 41, of Calwood, Missouri, died July 20, 1942 at 6:25am on Monday morning, at Callaway County Hospital.

Mr. Byrd was born July 11, 1901 in Callaway County, the son of Peter Lewis and Martha Ella Dudley Byrd of Auxvasse.

He was married November 26, 1923 to Mary Frances Dye and until he became ill last October he served as assistant supervisor at the Fulton State Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, Nollie Bob, Mary Lee, Charles Edward and Shirley Ann all of the home. Also surviving are his Mother, four brothers, Harry of Auxvasse, Jewell of Portland, Nollie of St. Louis and Lewis of Auxvasse; a sister Mrs. Glenwood ( Hazel) Knipp of Shamrock.

Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his father, Peter Lewis and an infant son, Lewis Johnston Byrd.

Funeral services were held at Ebenezer Baptist Church with Reverend John Robert Stiers officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Roy Byrd, 41, of 7 miles east of Fulton in Calwood, died at 6:25am on July 20, 1942 at the Callaway County Hospital where he had been a patient for one week.

Dr. Henry Durst, of Fulton, pronounced death caused by Cardio-Vascular Renal Disease with Severe Hypertension due to Arteriosclerosis contributed to by Hyperthyroidism. The informant was Mrs. Roy Byrd, spouse of the deceased.

Mr. Byrd was born July 11, 1901, in Callaway County, the son of Peter Louis and Martha Ella (Dudley) Byrd, born in Virginia and Callaway County, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Mary Frances Dye Byrd and she survives at their home. Mr. Byrd was a Fulton State Hospital Supervisor at the time of his death.

Arrangements were under the direction of Leo G. Wallace of Fulton. Burial was in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery between Fulton and Calwood.
