WORLD WAR II VETERAN,PHILLIPINE LIBERATION, SOUTH SEAS, PENTAGON

Robert Austin was born in Washington DC in 1905, moved back to Detroit with his Family and grew up in there. He was a Boy Scout and received the Order Of The Arrow (BSA) in 1918 for selling over $10,000 in WW I Savings Bonds a very large amount for those times. His mother died when he was 16 years old in the influenza epedemic of 1921. He graduated from High School entered Wayne State University and studied Law. He was able to test for the State Bar and obtain status as an Attorney. He was a member of the Michigan State Bar-Indiana State Bar-Oregon State Bar-Commenwealth of the Philippines Court System and Retired from the Veterans Administration in Boise,Id, in 1966 with over 30 years of Service. He was commissioned in the US Army as a Lt. in 1932 eventually became a Jag Corp(attorney Judge Advocate General)officer and retired as a Lt Col in the Army Reserves in 1965 at age 60. He served at the Pentagon in Wash D.C. and in the South Seas, New Caladonia, New Hebrides, New Guinea and the Phillipines in WWII. He also worked for the Veterans Administration in Manila, PI from 1937 untill 1941 and again in 1945 in Manila until he was repatriated to the United States where he was assigned to the Boise Veterans Administration. He retired in 1966. After Federal Retirement. he worked for Retail Credit Company in Boise, Idaho until he had enough points to draw Social Security. He passed away in the Boise Veterans Hospital and is interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Wash D.C. along with his wife Alma and infant son Richard Dunbar. May they all rest in peace.
