~0bit~Bessie F. Simon, a former teacher and a lifelong resident of the Troy Mills community, passed away at 2:30 P.M. Friday, October 5, 1973 at her home near Troy Mills, Iowa. She was born the daughter of Andrew Jackson and Alida Jane Fisher Baty on December 12, 1894 near Troy Mills. On December 12, 1927 she was married to John Simon at Walker, Iowa. Mrs. Simon attended Iowa State Teachers College and Cornell College. She was a member of the Troy Mills Methodist Church and the Highland Garden Club. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Doris Alida) Chapman of Marion; a son, Walter Alfred Simon of Walker; a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Nelle) Kelly of Cambria, California; two brothers, Dale Baty and Walter Baty of Walker and four grandsons. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mamie and Sarah and two brothers, Willard and Mark. Services: 1:30 P.M. Monday, October 8, 1973 at the Troy Mills United Methodist Church. Conducted by: Rev. Danny Lemons and Rev. Charles Moore. Music: Mrs. Virgil Chester and Lyle Kesterson. Bearers: Virgil Chester, Arthur Simanek, William Nielsen, Kenneth Shaffer, Charles Webster and Howard Crow. Interment: Troy Mills Cemetery.
