Ray Breese Ewing was born on March 10, 1902 in Washington, Washington county, Pennsylvania. He was the fifth child of thirteen children born to Albert Alexander and Margaret Moriah (Breese) Ewing.

He was united in marriage to Sallie Lucinda Mayfield on November 22, 1928 at Purcell, McClain county, Oklahoma. Sallie was the daughter of Louis and Lear (Whiteaker) Mayfield.

Ray and Sallie were the parents of two children Louis Douglas and Leara Corelean (Mrs. Michael J. Higgins).

Ray and Sallie lived east of Wayne for many years until they moved to Norman on August 5, 1953. Ray was a Carpenter by trade and belonged to the Local Carpenter's Union Number 329 retiring in 1958. Both were members of Trinity Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma.

Ray passed away on November 23, 1978 in Norman, Cleveland county, Oklahoma. He was laid to rest at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery in Moore, Cleveland county, Oklahoma where he rest from his labours until he rises on Resurrection Morning to greet our Risen Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ, by your own three days in the tomb, you hallowed the graves of all who believe in you and so made the grave a sign of hope that promises resurrection even as it claims our mortal bodies.

Grant that our brother may sleep here in peace until you awaken him to glory, for you are the resurrection and the life.

Trusting in God, we have prayed together for our brother and now we come to the last farewell. There is sadness in parting, but we take comfort in the hope that one day we shall see him again and enjoy his friendship. Although we will disperse in sorrow, the mercy of God will gather us together again in the joy of his kingdom. Therefore let us console one another in the faith of Jesus Christ.
