Adelia M. 'Nickie' Auclair
Adelia M. "Nickie" Auclair, 82, of Lomira, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at St. Agnes Hospital.

She was born Feb. 24, 1925, in Antigo, the only child of the late Burl and Della Goeman Nichols.

On May 20, 1944, she married Donald Auclair in Baltimore, Md., before he shipped overseas for World War II.

Nickie worked third shift as an aide while raising her children. Her compassion led her to work most of her life with the mentally handicapped.

When she sent her youngest son off to college, Nickie enrolled at Gogebic College in Ironwood, Mich., and graduated at age 57 as a licensed practical nurse. At the end of her career, she worked in a nursing pool at many nursing homes in both the Fond du Lac and Milwaukee areas. She loved collecting and sharing recipes and has had many of them published in the Fond du Lac Reporter. She even won first place for June Dairy Month in the 2001 contest for her Strawberry Pretzel Salad.

Nickie has blessed many people with her beautiful, angelic voice. She had always been an active member of her church choir, and she sang for weddings and for many other special occasions. We know she will be joining the chorus of angels in heaven, and she will be the same beautiful angel there as she had been on earth.

She was a loving mother to Chuck (Paulette) Auclair of Milwaukee, Mike (Delores) Auclair of Bolingbrook, Ill., Penny (Donald) Neller of Milwaukee, Pamela Brown of Black Diamond, Alberta, Canada, Patti (Tom) Dolan of Kaukauna, John Auclair (Tiia Desmond) of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Daniel Auclair of Mayville and Lorraine (Vic) Menebroeker of Rockland, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many others who have "adopted" her along the way; and many, many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; and one son, Donald Jr.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at Kietzer Funeral Home, Lomira.

Services: Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to all the wonderful people who have helped our Mom over the years, who have loved her as we have, and who will miss the gift she was to all of us.
