Donald Francis Auclair, Sr.
Donald Francis Auclair, Sr., 81, of 943 Willow St., Lomira, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, at St. Agnes Hospital.
Don was born April 4, 1923, at Manitowoc, the son of Charles and Theresa Kohler Auclair.
On May 20, 1944, he married Adelia Mae Nichols of Antigo at Baltimore, Md.
He served with the 3rd Army Infantry and was involved with the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. He continued to serve in Europe until 1946 and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service. Don was a Master Carpenter and had designed, built and remodeled hundreds of beautiful homes throughout Wisconsin. During his retirement, he continued his love of wood working by constructing remote controlled airplanes, cars, trucks, and many toys for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a guide for many years in the north woods.
He is survived by his wife, Adelia (Nickie) of Lomira; children, Charles (Paulette) of Milwaukee, Michael (Delores) of Bollingbrook, Ill., Penny (Donald) Neller of Milwaukee, Pamela (Fred) Brown of Black Diamond, Alberta, Patti Eickermann (Tom Dolan) of Kaukauna, John (Tiia) of Denver, Colo., and Daniel of Lomira; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Griebling of Manitowoc; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Donald F. Auclair, Jr.; his parents; one brother; four sisters.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at St. Paul?s Ev. Lutheran Church, W9910 Hwy 175, Lomira, with Pastor Darryl Kenagy officiating. A luncheon will follow. Cremation has taken place.
The family would appreciate memorials.
