After Elizabeth's death he married Drusilla Linn, daughter of James A. and Mary Morrison Linn, on Oct. 19, 1856 in Pennsylvania.
John and Drusilla had 9 children; George Washington (m. Uvadale Taylor), Mary Elizabeth (m. Elias Doane), James Oscar (m. Estella Davis), Henrietta Isabel (m. Heber Allen), Maurice Elmer (m. Clara Bell Fletcher and Sarah McBride), Sarah Ellen (m. Frank Carpenter), Jennie Eliza (m. Hiawatha Davis), Irene May (married August Oppperman) and Bessie Viola (m. Charles Switzer).

Linn, John C. Esq. died 1901 at his home in Piper City. Presbyterian services. George Linn, son of the deceased and wife came from Chicago. Some of the immediate family were too far away to reach here in time. Mr. Linn was born in Beech Creek, Clinton County, Pennsylvania 12 June 1830 where he grew to manhood. His first wife, Elizabeth Gulbreth, died early, their only child being William Linn, now of Pella Twp. Drusilla Linn, also a native of Clinton County was his 2nd wife. Nine children were born to them: George, Elizabeth (Doane), Oscar, Belle (Allen), Morris (Maurice), Nellie (Carpenter); Mrs. Hi Davis, Irene (Opperman) and Miss Bessie. After his second marriage 9 Oct. 1856, he came west to Kendall County; then in 1869 to Pella Twp., Ford County, Ill. where he spent many years rearing his family.
