Maurice E. Linn died at his home in Piper City, Illinois, Sunday morning, February 7, about 10:30 o'clock after a brief illness of influenza and asthma with other complications.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Houk Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. S. A. Johnson, and were very largely attended. Interment followed in Brenton Cemetery with E. B. Funk, A. E. Lansdale, W. O. Keefe, J. E. Wilson, C. E. Miller and Sam DeMoure acting as casket bearers.

Maurice E., son of John and Drusilla Linn, was born in Kendall County, near Platteville on March 30, 1864. He came to the Piper City community when about four years old and had continued to make this his home. He was engaged for a number of years in farming and upon moving to town for a time conducted a meat market, later following the carpenter trade.

He was united in marriage November 7, 1895 to Miss Clara Fletcher, daughter of Abner and Frances H. Hoselton, of this city, with Rev. John Rogers officiating. They had two children Edna Leona and Clifford Raymond, the latter preceding his father in death in June 1932.

On March 9, 1910 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sadie Davis of Piper City, who is seriously ill in St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee and was unable to be present at the funeral services. Besides the daughter Edna of Hot Springs, Ark., he also leaves a daughter, Miss Alice Marveline Linn, of Kankakee, three grandchildren, James Elmer, Harriet Louise and Clifford, Jr. of Marble, North Carolina, the children of his deceased son, and three sisters, Mrs. H. S. Davis, Mrs. Belle Allen and Mrs. C. B. Switzer, all of Piper City.

Mr. Linn united with the Methodist Church of this place in 1895. He was a member of Piper Lodge No. 608 A.F. & A.M. and also of the Modern Woodmen of America. Mr. Linn held the honor and respect of a large circle of friends.

Maurice was the 5th of 9 children. His siblings were William Thomas Linn (half brother) and George Washington, Mary Elizabeth Doane, James Oscar, Henrietta Isabel Allen, Sarah Ellen Carpenter, Jennie Eliza Davis, Irene May Opperman and Bessie Viola Switzer.
