KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY ­ 04/01/1954
C. R. BALLARD, HOLY CROSS BANKER, DIES
C. Robert Ballard, 60, cashier of the Bank of Loretto since 1930, died at Flaget Memorial Hospital, Bardstown, Saturday, March 27, [1954] of a heart ailment and complications. He had been ill three weeks, and at the hospital a week. Mr. Ballard resided at Holy Cross, where he supervised operation of his farm, in addition to his duties at the bank. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Medley Ballard; six sons, Tony, Jerome & Emerson Ballard, all of Loretto; Pete & Firman Ballard, Richmond, IN; and Thomas Ballard, of the Navy, now overseas; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Mattingly, Mrs. Leon Peake and Mrs. Rose Alice Wilson, all of Loretto; a brother, Albertus Ballard, Louisville; and two sisters, Sister Mary Firman, of St. Louis; and Mrs. Estelle Hutchins, Louisville. The body was at the residence. Funeral services were held Monday in Holy Cross Church, Holy Cross, Rev. F.M. Burch officiating at the high Requiem Mass. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
