MRS. ELEANOR L. ALLEN

Eleanor Loraine Allen, of Vienna, was born June 13, 1917, near Vichy, a daughter of Clarence O. and Minnie (Wagner) Love, and departed this life at 9:55 P.M., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in Rolla Presbyterian Manor. She had attained the age of 93 years, 4 months, and 14 days.

Mrs. Allen was united in marriage on October 23, 1936, at Waynesville, to Elbert Jackson Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 1999; her father in April of 1968; her mother in November of 1968; and one brother, Ray Love.

She was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. Mrs. Allen received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Lincoln University, Jefferson City. She was an Elementary and Special Education school teacher, retiring after 28 years and had been a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma since 1959. Mrs. Allen enjoyed fishing, sports, crafts, quilting, and crocheting.

Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Allen include: two sons, David Jackson Allen, and wife, Ruth, Vichy, and Robert Bruce Allen and wife, Vicki, Rolla; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Allen at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 30, 2010, in the Vienna United Methodist Church, with Rev. Karen Alden, officiating. The Vienna United Methodist Church choir sang "Precious Memories" and "How Great Thou Art" for the service.

Interment was in the Vienna Public Cemetery under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers for Mrs. Allen were Neil Snodgrass, Don Allen, Brad Allen, Scott Snodgrass, John Allen, Kevin Allen, Mark Allen and Keith Dake.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the Vienna office of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes.
