Jean attended Elkton Methodist Church during her adolescence, and studied at Strayer's Business School. She briefly was employed with Merck and Company, where she encountered her husband. They were married for 55 years, and during their retirement transitioned residency between their homes in Virginia and Florida.
Surviving are her brother, Lloyd "Jack" Rouse Jr. of Harrisonburg; her niece, Elizabeth P. "Jackie" Rouse of Florida; two great-nephews, Chad and Jeremy; her great- niece, Tara; and her great- great niece, Kelsey.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.
