Clarence was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 8 April 1918 and was discharged 11 Jan. 1919.

Clarence's occupation was auto mechanic. He lived and worked in Cherokee, Peterson, Waterman, and Waterloo, Iowa, and also in Denver, Colorado. He was working at Wheeler Motors (no relation) in Waterloo when he retired. He worked part time later on in construction and as custodian at Immanual Lutheran School.

Clarence died at Ravenwood Care Center, Waterloo, Iowa. He had five brothers; Ray, Fred, Leigh, Worth and Charles and three sisters, Clara, Pansie and Loyal. When he died he was survived by Della, 3 brothers, 1 sister, his daughter, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
