Andrew Chester Abell was the fifth child of Thomas Willard Abell and his first wife Rebecca J. Bradley.

He was the brother of Sarah Cassinda, Albert, Sampson, Gilbert, Charles Grover, Ida Katherine, Dora and Thomas Abell.

He was the step-brother of his father's second wife's (Sarah E. Ingle) children Gertrude Rose (married Eli Anspach), and an unknown Sinclair baby.

Charles was the half-brother of Jesse, Margaret Lenah (married Marshall Fridy), Alvin Thomas, Lola Pearl (married Zeus McKibban), Gladys Lela (married Roy Bradley), Permelia Ella (married Irwin Bradley)and Herman Edward Charles Abell (who used the spelling of Abelle for his last name).


Andrew was the grandson of James Abell and Sarah Ann Wade; and of Elijah Bradley and Nancy Waddle.

He was married to Nan Greer on Aug 30, 1909 in Vanderburgh County and they were the parents of Lorene and Lloyd M.

RETIRED SERVEL WORKER
ANDREW C. ABELL, 82

Andrew C. Abell, retired Servel machine operator, died at 3:55 pm yesterday at 1911 E. Illinois.

Mr. Abell, who would have observed his 83rd birthday on October 31, was ill for two years, his family said.

In August he fell at his home, suffering a broken hip, and was admitted to Deaconess Hospital. He returned home two week ago, but complications developed, the family said.

Mr. Abell retired 12 years ago after 43 years at Servel.

He moved from his native Dubois County to Evansville 58 years ago and for a short while operated a tavern on East Franklin Street.

He was a member of the Servel Twenty-Year Club and Woodmen of the World, and attend Olivet Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are Nan, his wife of 57 years; a son, Lloyd M., and a daughter, Mrs. Lorene Fulton, both of Evansville; brothers, Charles of Evansville, Alving of North Vernon and Herman of Richmond, Calif.; sisters Mrs. Katherine McMillen, Springfield, O., Mrs. Margaret Friday, Evansville, Mrs. Lola McKibbin, Anderson, and Mrs. Gladys Bradley, Kokomo; and three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Fountain Terrace Chapel after 5 pm today.

Funeral will be at the funeral home Saturday at 9:30 am. The Rev. Stanley Meckel will officiate. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Andrew fell in his backyard and broke several bones in his body, which included his leg, neck and pelvis. He developed pneumonia and septicemia which was the cause of his death.
