Obsequies of Ogden Decedent Under Lodge Auspices

Ogden, Ill., Aug. 16.—The funeral of John McCullam was held from the Christian church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. J. T. Davis and the Knights of Pythias of St. Joseph and Ogden had charge of the funeral. Interment at the Patterson cemetery near St. Joseph.
With the exception of one year in Kansas Mr. McCullam has been a resident of Champaign county all his life. He was engaged in Business in Ogden, St. Joseph Urbana and Champaign at various times and had many business friends, as he was known as a man of sterling worth.
Mr. McCullam died about 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon. He had been ill for several months with cancer of the stomach, but had been able to attend to his duties as agent of the Illinois Traction system until about two months ago. Mr. McCullam was born in Ogden township May 25, 1851. He married Elizabeth Richards in 1876. She died the following year, and on March 11, 1879, he married, Ruth J. Mead, who died in 1895. Their three children are William, James and Mary. On March 8, 1898, he married Mary A. Jones. To them were born three children, a son who died in infancy, and Hazel and Cyrus. He is also survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Mapes of St. Joseph, and two brothers, James of Baker City, Ore., and David of Oklahoma City, Okla. These relatives with the exception of David were present at the funeral. The decedent was a member of the Christian church.
