Mr. J. E. Aikman, aged 64 years, prominent merchant, planter and stockman of Bluffton, died at his home at an early hour Tuesday morning.

Mr. Aikman was one of Fourche Valley's most highly respected and useful citizens and his death is a matter of deep regret to a wide circle of friends throughout this section of Arkansas.

Mr. James Edward Aikman, 64, Bluffton, departed this life August 10. When he was a small child his parents moved from Louisiana to near Bluffton where he spent the remainder of his life. When 23 years of age he was married to Miss Sallie Ann Gibbs, Gibbs Ark. To this union was born six children all of whom survive. Captain Anson in the service, Belleville, Ill.; Jim T. and Bill, Bluffton.; Mrs. Ellie Kendrick, Carro Gordo, Okla.; Mrs. R. C. Jones, Ft. Smith; and Herman, Fort Rockman, Mass. Four brothers, Luther, Rogers, Chester, San Francisco, Calif., George, San Antonio, Texas, and Rosco, Dumas, and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Jones, Gravelly, Mrs. Ben Daniels, Dumas, and 12 grandchildren. In 1930 he was married to Mrs.

Cora Russell, who survived him as also does Lucy Jayne, his stepdaughter of the home. Mr. Aikman, a member of the Methodist Church and an active member of the Masonic Lodge, has been a merchant and Postmaster at Bluffton for more than 23 years.

Services were in the front yard under the large oak tree and a great crowd was present to pay tne deserved tribute of respect to the memory of Mr. Aikman. Flowers were many and very beautiful. Services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. Chas L. Fry assisted by Rev. and Mrs. Jewel Nelson, Huntsville and Ralph Hillis.
