For some time his life had been trembling in the balance. He had been confined to his bed for some time with a dangerous malady liver and heart trouble.
Deceased was born in Eugene Township June 7, 1836, and was 56 years, 9 months, and 7 days old at the time of his death. He spent his entire life in the vicinity of his birth, and did his share in developing the country.
He was known by everybody in this county, and had scores of admiring friends. Two years ago, he was elected County Commissioner and was serving his second term, having been re-elected last fall.
The funeral occurred a the family residence at Malone Station at 2 p.m. on Thursday, the services being conducted by Undertaker Watson. A choir composed of Dr. Kinderman and wife, Misses Lottie Lashley, Laura Gadd, and Latha Arrowsmith, Ed Mack, Homer Ross, and T.E. Briles sang 3 selections.
The remains were interred in the Eugene Cemetery. The long procession that followed the deceased spoke eloquently of his popularity and his sterling worth as a citizen. All the county officers except Auditor Hamilton attended the funeral. The casket was a handsome one round end, covered with fine broadcloth, and draped in silk, and trimmed with massive gold.
