William Lemuel Brown was born Aug. 30, 1865, and departed this life May 10, 1939, aged 74 years, eight months and 20 days.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Brown on March 5, 1884, and to this union were born 11 children, nine of whom survive. They are Mrs. Minnie Maples of Oklahoma, Mrs. Frank Cutbirth, Mrs. Maude Ellingsworth, Mrs. Beatrice Tennis, all of Highlandville, Fred of Clever, Ernest of Ozark, Raymond of Sparta, Mrs. Mettie Maples and Mrs. Nora Keen of Springfield, Mo.

He was converted and joined the Baptist church at Highlandville when a young man and was still a member at the time of his death.

His wife preceded him in death. Besides the children he is survived by two brothers, Sam of Highlandville and Az of Ash Grove, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Polly Ann Medsker, of Webb City; 42 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren to mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Highlandville Baptist church conducted by Ephrim Melton with burial in the Highlandville cemetery under the direction of the Wilburn Maple Funeral Home of Clever, Mo.
