John Washington Orr was born February 3, 1878, in Maries county Misouri and died after a long illness December 9, 1954, at the age of 76, nine months and 26 days.

He was united in marriage to Rosa Lily Burnham, November 18, 1900. To this union were born four children, one having preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Lily; three children, Arvel of Lamar, Mrs. A. C. King of Rocky Ford and Mrs. C.L. Adamsom of Springfield; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Orr was one of 14 children. His parents, four sisters and one brother have preceded him in death. Brothers and sisters surviving him are James H. of Montrose, Mo.,Elmer of Blairstown, Mo., Erve of Lamar, Arnold of Wiley, Mrs. Lewis Bilyeu of Meta, MO., Mrs. John Barnhart of Jefferson City, MO., Mrs. Martin Kusewitt and Mrs. Walter Weithoff of St. Louis, Mo.

Orr was a good husband and father. During the past several years, as his health failed him, he was patient and loving. He united with the Christian church 55 years ago near Meta.

Funeral services for John W. Orr were held from the First Christian Church in Lamar Saturday with the Rev Maurice W. Sirater officiating.

"God Will Take Care Of You" and "Going Down The Valley" were sung by Mrs. Carolyn Bridge, Mrs. Mary Welmer, Lester Scriven and Willard Carlson, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence G. Guy.

Casket bearers were Alonzo Page, James Mitchell, George Copeland, Joe Scriven, Giles H. Strong and Clarence Courkanp.

Burial followed at Fairmount cememtery. Kirkpatrick - Duggan was in charge of arrangements.
