Note: There is a similar memorial in the Union Cross Baptist Cemetery with different dates. Only one parent is listed on that memorial which happens to be the same parent on this memorial. The child's death certificate clearly shows that death occurred at 8 p.m. on March 9, 1917. The document was signed by the attending physician, Wm. A. Will....(?) of Elkin, NC, on Mar. 30, 1917. The undertaker, Wm. Jackson, noted the burial occurred on March 10, 1917 in Fairview. The document was filed by the County Registrar, W. M. Stone, M.D., on Apr. 6, 1917. The child's father, W. D. Burton, of Crutchfield, N.C., was the informant on the death certificate. Incidentally, the birthdate is definitely wrong. The death certificate lists June 9, 1908 as the date of birth and it also lists the child was 8 yrs., 8 mos., and 9 days old at the time of his death which would not equate to the cited date on either this memorial or the other.
