I heard from a fellow researcher that Lovisa's parentage was up for question. She had found an 1844 death cert for a Louisa Ballou that didn't contain information about her parents. My information comes from two places:
1) a very large book of vital statistics written by Harriet Cerelia Snow. She was a teacher in Becket and was one of the founders of the Becket Athenaeum (aka library); a copy of this book is kept that the athenaeum and the original is in Pittsfield.
2) a book: An elaborate history and genealogy of the Ballous in America by Adin Ballou (1888); Elisa Ballou and his wives and progeny are on pages 1012 & 1013.
