MRS. L. U. NICKELL DIED IN CALIFORNIA

Resident of Fulton for Many Years Passed Away Thursday Night.

Mrs. Lena Wheeler Nickell, 69 years old, widow of the late L. U. Nickell, died at 8:30 o'clock Thursday night at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Los Angeles, Calif., where she underwent an operation on Wednesday. Mrs. Nickell had been ill for two months before entering the hospital. News of her death was received here in a telegram from her daughter, Mrs. Charles W. Roadman, of Los Angeles.

The body will be brought to Fulton, arriving Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning and a funeral service will be conducted at the First Christian church of Fulton Tuesday morning by the Rev. W. Garnet Alcorn, pastor. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery.

Mrs. Nickell's maiden name was Lena Wheeler. She was born April 21, 1860, at Portland, in the southeast part of this county, and came with her parents to Fulton as a child. She lived most of her life in this city, and received part of her education at Synodical College. She was married November 28, 1881, to L. U. Nickell, of Fulton, who died July 19, 1929, at Moorhead, Minn., and who was buried in Hillcrest cemetery here. Six children survive. They are: J. Lewis Nickell, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Charles W. Roadman, Los Angeles; Miss Dixie Nickell, who is teaching in San Diego, Calif.; H. Kennedy Nickell, Chicago; Miss Pauline Nickel, who teaches in the University of Minnesota at St. Paul; and Miss Eleanor Nickell, who teaches in the San Diego, Calif., schools.

In addition, Mrs. Nickell is survived by three sisters and one brother. They are: Mrs. Anna Adams; Cave Springs, Ga.; Mrs. D. C. McCue, Fulton; Mrs. George Dodson, St. Louis, and L. M. Wheeler, Cairo, Ill.

Mrs. Nickell had been in California since September and was making her home with Mrs. Roadman. She had been an active member of the Christian church since early childhood. She was a devoted wife and mother, and had a great many friends in Fulton all of whom will sincerely regret to hear of her passing.
